Equipment Upkeep

In the mold remediation and water damage restoration business, there’s many pieces of equipment that are vital to completing a job.  Mold Remediation will use equipment like Air Machines, (Scrubbers and Negative Air), HEPA vacuums, Fog machines etc.  While Water Damage Restoration will use equipment such as Turbo Fans, Axial Fans, Dehumidifiers and more.  So why […]

What are HEPA Vacuums?

HEPA (High‐Efficiency Particulate Air) vacuums differ from conventional vacuums in that they contain filters that are capable of trapping extremely small, micron‐sized particles. A true HEPA filter can trap 99.97 percent of all airborne particles larger than 0.3 microns. To illustrate how small this is, a human red blood cell is usually between 6 and 8 microns wide. […]

Getting What You Pay For – Part 3

For Part 3, we’ll discuss the difference between contractor #1 and #2 by using equipment as the example.   Contractor #1, like many contractors in the restoration business, have very old and even used equipment.  And a couple very important pieces of equipment when completing a mold remediation project are HEPA vacuums, air scrubbers and […]

Dust Mite Allergen: An Indoor Problem – Part 2

SamplingVolumetric sampling of the air has repeatedly shown that concentrations of mite allergens are generally very low to undetectable. The International Association of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (IAACI) has recommended sampling settled dust to evaluate exposure to dust mite allergens. The ACGIH has stated that it is important to sample multiple indoor locations to obtain […]

Completed!!!

The final photo in our series which looked at a basement in where the joists were treated and encapsulated, shows the room brought back to pre-loss condition. In 7 days the ceiling tile and suspension grid was removed, the basement was contained with air control being established, the joists in the basement and the two […]

Damp Wiping

Continuing with the step by step process of remediation, the photo here shows the damp wiping process. After containment and HEPA vacuuming, the basement is sprayed and then damp wiped. Damp wiping removes all of the particulate from the surface, and then an abrasive method will follow.
